Weddings

Hornby Anglican Parish would love to celebrate your special day with you

The weddings we offer in our church spaces, or by arrangement at other local venues, are a public celebration of a couple’s love, friendship and respect for each other, and a solemn covenant between the couple before God. It is a formal commitment to a life-long relationship. Please do not assume a minister or church wedding is unaffordable. It’s very important to us that weddings are accessible to all so please let us know if our standard fees are going to be a problem.

The couple and the minister prepare a service of celebration and commitment together, including a Bible reading and Christian blessing. The NZ Anglican church requires that at least one of the wedding couple has been baptised/christened, or is intending to be baptised.

Marriage Licence

You will need to apply for a marriage licence, preferably two to four weeks before the wedding. It is valid for 3 months. Apply online; Births, Deaths and Marriages. Your marriage licence must be provided prior to the ceremony. We cannot conduct a legal marriage without a licence. If you intend to have an outdoor wedding, please also identify an indoor wet weather alternative (our church may be available), as this address will need to be listed on your Marriage Licence application.
