Weekly Notices - 1 September 2024
There are some significant things happening in the coming week. Among them is the Service of Lament which follows on from the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care. Horrific abuse has occurred both in state and church care environments. The service is about owning the abuse that has gone on across the wider church. The details can be found below. This service is open to all who feel they can attend.
There’s also General Synod; It is likely there will be considerable discussion on the way forward now that Christ Church Cathedral has been put on hold. Justine, Ross, and Les are our Synod members. Synod is two days filled with a lot of concentration and conversation. Synod functions on the Westminster system. Each Synod member listens carefully and weighs up the pros and cons before voting on each motion and bill. We would really appreciate your prayers. Further details are below.
Please also note that St Saviour’s has reverted to its 5 pm spring/summer/autumn service time.
Les.

Parish Giving
Thank you to all who are on our envelope/auto payments/online banking. In the past the Tongan Church who had rented our facilities for a number of years moved into their own church building. We have also had some parishioners head home to eternity. This has meant a loss of over $12,000 in income for us. We would appreciate it if you could prayerfully consider this in your future giving.

Recycling
Batteries and used light bulbs can go into the battery box in your church. These are taken to Mitre 10 for recycling.
Soft, dry clean plastics can be recycled at the Warehouse or New World, in a bin inside the door and get made into fence posts. You can find more participating store locations here. This is any plastic you can fold up in your hand.
