Weekly Notices - 15 September 2024

This Sunday Les and Margi are on holiday. The Reverends David and Don will be preaching at the services across the parish.

One of the hardest things to do in parish ministry is to finish. The writer of Ecclesiastes said, “there is a right time for everything under heaven” (The Message). When I came to the parish it was a Macedonian call (Acts 16:6-10). Then quite unexpectedly at the beginning of this year I had that same call to hand on the work. In the past few months a lot of prayer has gone into how this might happen. I’m confident that God has great things planned for this parish and I will look expectantly to see how they are fulfilled in the years ahead.

I’m thinking that we will all be thinking about the way ahead for the parish next year. While we will talk about it, I want to encourage you to keep the parish in prayer and perhaps meet up with others to pray. I will be working diligently on seeking to fill the preaching roster through December and January. Bishop Peter and Archdeacon Nick will be looking ahead into next year.

Les.

Groups

It’s easy to connect and get involved with some great social and faith-focused groups that meet regularly across the parish. You can find out about all our regular groups on our Groups page. If you have any questions, just click the contact button to connect with the group’s organiser.

Recycling

  • Batteries and used light bulbs can go into the battery box in your church. These are taken to Mitre 10 for recycling.

  • Soft, dry clean plastics can be recycled at the Warehouse or New World, in a bin inside the door and get made into fence posts. You can find more participating store locations here. This is any plastic you can fold up in your hand.
