Weekly Notices - 22 September 2024

I am really looking forward to our combined service next Sunday. You will meet Jairus (whose name means “he who will stir up”). Jairus works for NZCMS and is not Anglican! How did he come to be involved with NZCMS.
Communications and what exactly is that. Well, come along and hear what he has to say. Over lunch you will have a chance to chat with him. Remember mission is global which also means that it is right on our doorstep.

Jairus has some tips on how to talk with our local communities about Jesus. Jairus is responsible for NZCMS’ Communications. He and his family were involved in mission in Papua New Guinea and Cambodia which is where his passion for global mission was birthed. He is married to Jasmine where they attended Riccarton Community Church and are involved in the worship and leading the Young Adult’s Ministry. He is also on the Missions Board for his church and has travelled to Kenya and led a team to Burundi, East Africa, to connect with their churches Mission Partners.

Don’t forget that our combined service at West Melton begins at 10:30 am.

Les.

Prayer for leading your church into growth

As the kotuku gently rests upon the tree, come Holy Spirit and rest upon us as we pray for the regeneration of our Diocese. Silence Everliving God, through your Spirit you constantly renew the whole creation; bring regeneration to your Diocese of Christchurch, grant us courage to grow disciples of Jesus, give us vision to reach young people and their families, and strengthen us to create vibrant communities of faith. All this we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen

Groups

It’s easy to connect and get involved with some great social and faith-focused groups that meet regularly across the parish. You can find out about all our regular groups on our Groups page. If you have any questions, just click the contact button to connect with the group’s organiser.

Recycling

  • Batteries and used light bulbs can go into the battery box in your church. These are taken to Mitre 10 for recycling.

  • Soft, dry clean plastics can be recycled at the Warehouse or New World, in a bin inside the door and get made into fence posts. You can find more participating store locations here. This is any plastic you can fold up in your hand.
