Weekly Notices - 4 August 2024

During the week Margaret Johns was admitted to hospital and passed away on Wednesday night. Margaret and Peter have been part of the landscape at West Melton for more than 30 years. Margaret was in church every Sunday until health issues made it difficult for her to attend. Her mind was sharp and she was vibrant. The St Paul’s Church community are also really feeling her loss. Margaret is now safe with Jesus. Please keep Peter and the family in your prayers and also for those across the parish who knew her, as we all come to terms with her loss. “A mighty Totara has fallen.”

Last Sunday I read out a letter from the Archbishop’s regarding “The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in State and Faith-based Care.” I said I would put the following into this week’s Handy Sheet.

“Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Anglican Church who wish to engage with the church about that abuse are encouraged to email”: contact@anglicanredress.nz

“Anyone wishing to make a current complaint can contact the Ministry Standards Commission Registrar by email”: registrar@ministrystandards.org

Notes from Adrienne Worth in Cambodia

“Greetings from Battanbang
Pray:

  • That opportunities to plant the seeds of faith in a Khmer colleague will continue and flourish.

  • For the encounters Adrienne has on her walks in the park will result in more meetings and conversations about Jesus.

  • For the students in her craft lessons who recognise her love for them, and for those involved in village Bible studies for kids to see this as an outreach. May they come to know Jesus.

Give thanks:

  • For the creativity students in the craft classes have displayed.

  • For the opportunity to assist trainee teachers to understand the benefits of creativity in lessons.

  • Pray for these young teachers as they teach and study

  • For being surprised by God in nature.

  • Having landed a pineapple top in a pot 2 years ago a sweet organically grown pineapple has been harvested.

Thank you Jesus that you love to surprise and bless me!”

Prayer for the regeneration of our Diocese

As the kotuku gently rests upon the tree, come Holy Spirit and rest upon us as we pray for the regeneration of our Diocese. Silence
Everliving God, through your Spirit you constantly renew the whole creation; bring regeneration to your Diocese of Christchurch, grant us courage to grow disciples of Jesus, give us vision to reach young people and their families, and strengthen us to create vibrant communities of faith. All this we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen

Ukraine, Israel & Gaza

In their hour of need we remember Ukraine & the Israel and Gaza conflict. We continue to pray.

Helpful info

Parish Giving

Thank you to all who are on our envelope/auto payments/online banking. In the past the Tongan Church who had rented our facilities for a number of years, moved into their own church building. We have also had some parishioners head home to eternity. This has meant a loss of over $12,000 in income for us. We would appreciate it if you could prayerfully consider this in your future giving. You can find all the details you’ll need on the Giving Page.
